NAVROZ MUBARAK

Parsi New Year is also known as Navroz or Jamshed-i-Nouroz. The Parsi New Year celebration marks the first day of the Parsi calendar. The festival signifies renewing spirits with love, kindness, positivity and peace, cleansing our souls from our sins and asking for repentance. The staff and the boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali decided to use this auspicious day to wish our beloved Parsi friends Navroz Mubarak.

In particular, the boys decided to celebrate this 2018, Parsi New Year with Mr. Boman Irani, the famous film and theatre personality. Mr. Boman Irani is widely known for his comedic and villain roles in Bollywood films but he is also famous for been a voice artist and sports photographer especially boxing. The boys were very excited to meet him personally and many had even by-hearted his dialogue and laughter of the movies 3 Idiots and the Munna Bhai MBBS series.
The journey began with the bus drive from BBH to Mr. Irani’s house. The journey was full of fun and laughter with the boys singing songs and posing for photos. When they arrived at the house, the boys were sad to hear that they just missed meeting Mr. Irani by half an hour. Nevertheless they visited his home and gave a bouquet to the staff present there. The boys were thrilled when they invited for a cup of cold drinks and snacks. The boys thanked the staff for their cordial gesture and invited them to BBH. After this, the boys were surprised when they were told that their next destination would be Jijamata Udyaan. It is also called

as Raani Baag (meaning Queen's Gardens) after the original British name Victoria Gardens. They were delighted to see the various architectural designs and the varieties of birds and animals sanctuaries in the park. It also acted as part of the educational exposure when the boys visited the Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum (formerly the Victoria and Albert Museum) in the park. It is the oldest museum in Mumbai. The museum housed a large number of archaeological finds, maps and historical photographs of Mumbai, clay models, silver and copper ware and costumes. Its significant collections included a 17th-century manuscript of Hatim Ta. The boys were really immersed in the beauty and history of the museum and some were really asking interesting questions to the guides present around.

The boys really had a good day of fun and learning and to add to that they even had a delicious meal of Chicken Biryani specially brought by the loving parents of Dn. Romero. Though they missed an opportunity to meet the celebrity Boman Irani, they really enjoyed the day out of Navroz Mubarak. The boys thanked the staff for making this possible. Karthik a boy expressed his gratitude in these words:  “Thank you for taking us out and showing us these beautiful places. We really learned a lot and specially pray for our Parsi brethren that God may bless them.”

Especially, for his service among the young through the gift of music and choir – the saying of St Augustine goes well with the gift of Fr. Alu being an instrument to God “singing is
