PRECIOUS MOMENTS WITH GOD

 A special half-day Praise and Worship was conducted for the boys and staff of Bosco Boys Home, (BBH) Borivali on April 24, 2019 from 9am to 1pm by Father Allywn Misquitta sdb. He was accompanied and assisted by Mr. Harry Menezes, a parishioner from Don Bosco parish, Borivali. In all, 35 boys along with 5 staff participated. The theme of the day was to highlight the meaning of moral ethics. Fr. Corlis Gonsalves the Rector of BBH thanked and welcomed Fr. Allywn and Mr. Henry for having agreed to spend their time with the boys and helping them understand the basic importance of cultivating good habits and shunning away from bad habits. The programme was separated into two parts. The first session focused on the theme, 'Jeevan ke Mulya for healthy life' Nyan Indrya-Sense of perception. TREE PLANTATION CAMPAIGN: PLANT A TREE AND SAVE A LIFE.

A Tree Plantation Campaign was held by Bhumi one of India’s largest independent and youth volunteer non-profit organisations, on the occasion of “Earth Day” on 21 st April,2019 at Bosco Boys Home, (BBH), Borivali. An active participation of 23 Volunteers from Bhumi together with over 30 children from grade V to VIII, from BBH took part in this activity. Before commencing with the planting, the Volunteers ensured that the kids were well aware of the process of plantation and importance of the Earth day to be celebrated on 22 th of April. There were around 65 saplings of different types like neem, mango, tomato, chillies, coconut etc. planted by the boys with the help of the Volunteers. “Different teams of volunteers and children took up various activities like shoveling and digging, getting the sapling out of their bags, placing it in the pit and then watering the plant. A PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE WITH BOSCO BOYS

The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) collaborated with Bosco Boys Home, (BBH) Borivali to train its students and to give them some practical fieldwork experience in the sector of Youth at risk and Children in need of care and protection. This year two first year students of Master in Social Work (MSW) from TISS: Mr. Paul Mung Ja a BA graduate and Ms. Mugdha Cheemakurthy a BCom graduate joined BBH as part of their fieldwork training. BACHAT GAT YOJANA: A COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVE BY BMC AND BOSCO BOYS HOME

“Bachat Gat Yojana” is a Project initiated by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation ( BMC) for Basti women. In this project, the under the scheme of “Bachat Gat” a group of five to six ladies from a particular basti come together to learn a skill so as to make an earning through it. As part of many activities to make the city self-reliant and progressive the BMC through this project help women to learn and earn their livelihood. Helping the BMC in this philanthropic and benevolent venture, Bosco Boys Home, (BBH) Borivali collaborated with BMC in its “Bachat Gat Yojana” Project to train the Basti women of the nearby bastis of Borivali: MHB Colony, LIC Colony, IC Colony, Gorai, Charkop, Chikuwadi, Babhai Naka. BBH offered their facilities and instructors to train the Basti women in the skills of Bakery and Cookery along with short term courses on Soft Skills and Spoken English this academic year. Career Guidance Camp

The Muskaan Career Guidance Camp was conducted for 10 th  and 12 th  standard students by Don Bosco Centre for Learning (DBCL) on 28 th -29 th March 2019 at Boscowadi, Gorai, Mumbai for students from Bosco Boys Home, (BBH) Borivali and Sanmitra Trust. There were 29 students in all (girls and boys included) who participated in the Camp.  There were 5 recourse persons, which comprised of National Service Scheme (NSS) Chief from DBCL Mr Royal D’Souza, Counsellors Ms. Eula Dsa and Meena Kini and one each Social and Leadership Professionals from Sanmitra and Bosco Boys Home. “The Camp offered guidance to children for their future education and careers available in the country today. Many participants explored career opportunities such as pilots, genetic systems and aeronautics among others.
