CARING AND SHARING WITH LOVE

          The students from Mary Immaculate, Borivali came to Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) respectively on the 19 th and 20 th of December with celebrate and spread the spirit of Christmas to the boys of the orphanage. The trip was organised by the Management and staff of Mary Immaculate Primary and High School section. It was divided into two batches on the 19 th the Primary section and on the next day the Secondary section. The students were accompanied by Sr. Payal, MSA and the other staffs from the school. The students started with an introduction by playing an icebreaker game wherein they got to know the names of the boys. Then the programme started with the pictorial description, carol singing and a skit beautifully enacting the Nativity of the Lord explaining to the boys about the real meaning of Christmas. MOMENTS OF GRACE AND BLESSINGS

Bosco Boys Home Technical Institute, Borivali ‘believes in the Best and for the Best’ for the students and tries to provide the best of the infrastructure and Instructors for them. AMUL THE TASTE OF INDIA

Every year 26 th of November is being observed as National Milk Day (NMD) to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of the White Revolution in India, Dr.Verghese Kurien. To commemorate this beautiful moment the Management and the staff of Bosco Boys Home decided to take the boys to the Amul’s Virar Dairy for an educational cum exposure visit on 24 th November, 2018. Amul Dairy has setup a state of art dairy near Virar. It covers 11 acres of lush green land surrounded by the mountains and jungles of Virar. The Dairy is set up at a total cost of Rs. 180 crore, processing an installed capacity of 1 million litres milk per day with a provision to expand upto 2 million litres in the near future. The main work carried by this plant is to serve the consumers of Mumbai City and its suburbs with fresh milk and milk products. CHILDLINE SE DOSTI

The NGO Committed Communities Development Trust (CCDT) which runs the Childline program in Mumbai from Dahisar to Andheri as part of their “Child Rights Week” celebration participated with the children of Bosco Boys Home on 22 th of November, 2018 in the programme called “Childline se Dosti.” Childline (dial 1098), is a 24 hour toll free national emergency phone outreach service committed to responding to children in need of care and protection. Childline reaches out to any child who has been deprived of his or her right to a safe childhood. As part of the Children Day festivity, the group kept “Child Rights Week” from 14 th to the 21 th of November with an aim to meet different stake holders, allied systems and civilians and making them aware about Childline services and sensitize them towards child protection issues. AN OUTING TO LONAVALA

The boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali celebrated the Diwali vacation this year with an outing to the hill station of Lonavala from the 12 th to the 20 th of November. The trip was organised by the Salesians keeping in mind the positive change and the therapeutic healing brought by the peaceful and hygienic climate of Lonavala. It was a 9 day trip, in which the boys heartily participated and were dedicatedly accompanied by the staff. For all the days the boys were hosted by the house of Maria Ashiana, Lonavala. The trip comprised of outings, activities, sessions, games and housie. The boys started their outing with an educational tour of Don Bosco School, Lonavala, which was added with visits to Tungarli Dam, Valvan Dam and Garden where  one of the highlights was to see the conservation technique of the mighty Mahseer, a breed of fish breeding only in Lonavala. PARENTS MEETING

On the 5 th of November, 2018 the management and staff of Bosco Boys Home had organised a Parents meeting.   As the Diwali holiday came near the children of Bosco Boys Home were in happier mood as they were informed that they would be allowed to go home for few days for the Diwali celebration. Taking his opportunity, the staff decided to have a brief meeting of the children along with their parents informing them about the progress of their child and new projects been prepared for the betterment of the children. Fr. Corlis Gonsalves, the Director of the Institute, welcomed the parents and briefed them about the upcoming programmes been planned for the children and the new rules applied by the Child Welfare Committee for the children regarding the holidays. AWARENESS ON THE POCSO ACT

An awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) was conducted by Mrs. Tejashri Shinde and Mr. Kshir Sagar, the Police Sub Inspectors (PSI) of MHB Colony, Police Station, Borivali West for the children and staff of Bosco Boys Home, Borivali on 03 th November 2018 from 10.00 am to 11.30 am which was organised by Deacon. Romero D’Souza and the CWC staff. Fr. Corlis Gonsalves, the Director of the Institute, welcomed them and thanked them for their kind initiative and service offered to the institute. FLY HIGHER

“Life is a beautiful journey and let’s together, Fly higher!” Keeping this thought in mind, around 25 volunteers of the NGO Fly Higher India paid a visit to the Bosco Boys Home in Borivali on October 28 from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm, to spread smiles to the ones who really deserved it. The NGO Fly Higher India (FHI) is an initiative of Apmvm Foundation, a Not-for-profit organisation. Started in end of 2017, the initiative soon spread to various cities and impacted lives of thousands of children and involved hundreds of volunteers.  Its aim is   to  inculcate life skills, instil values, and imbibe confidence among the underprivileged children and youth across India. They do so by  using recreational and educational tools , making them  better prepared for adult life . The volunteers had educational and funfilled activities planned for the children. BOSCO BOYS HOME AN INSPIRATION TO OTHERS!!!

On 27 th October 2018, the NGO Samajik Vikas Kendra from Malad (East) led by the head of the Institute Mr. Sachin Mahore visited Bosco Boys Home, Borivali as part of their educational and exposure visit from 11 am to 2pm. The other staffs present were Mr. Sachin Mahore, Mrs. Kavita Rana, Mrs. Archana Rathod, Mrs. Trupti Tayde, Mrs. Sarla Nair, Mrs. Aarti Gayor the Social Development outreach worker, and the Superintendent Mrs. Sangita Karande. This meeting was organized by Mr. Datta Gade the coordinator of the Social Work department of BBH. Addiction A Problem To Be Tackled!!!

On 24 th October, 2018 from 9am to 5pm, Don Bosco Balprafulta, organized a Seminar ‘How to Handle Addicted Children and ‘Juvenille Justice Alliance Meet’ at Don Bosco Provincial House, Matunga. The main resource person for the programme were: Fr. Thomas Koshy the National YaR Director & Pioneer of Juvenile Justice Act, Fr. Xavier Devdas the Director of Maria Ashiana Lonavala, Dr.Sunita Shanbhag, Mr. Vijay Shankar and Dr. Asha Mukundan. Two staff Mr. Eustace Fernandes, the Educational Supervisor and Ms. Meena Kini the Counselor from Bosco Boys Home also attended the session. 85 members from 27 NGO’s from all part of Mumbai took part in this social awareness forum. STAYING FIT THE MALLAKHAMB WAY!!!

The boys of the Bosco Boys Home, Borivali were introduced to Mallakhamb, a traditional  Indian  sport as a way to stay fit and healthy on October 21. It is a sport, in which a  gymnast  performs aerial  yoga  postures and  wrestling  grips in concert with a vertical stationary or hanging wooden pole, cane, or hanging rope. The word Mallakhamb itself refers to the pole used in the sport. While explaining to the boys the importance of this sport, Moreshwar Ingole, the Maalakhamb instructor said, “This is the only sport that provides optimum exercise to the entire body in the least possible time. WIN OVER OUR VICES

Dussehra is a Hindu festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Dussehra is the culmination of the  Navaratr i festival. It is a nine day celebration, a major season cultural event, which includes public celebration of  c lassical and flolk dances  of Hindu culture. The boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali also participated in this celebration which encourages the good to triumph over evil and also reminds us to win over our vices on 17 th October. As Don Bosco always told his boys to be good, to do good, to see good and to practise goodness. The boys rose to the sound of Garba music and had a Guajarati special breakfast of Dhokla for the morning. PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT WORK SHOP

Jannat Media Production in collaboration with Bosco Boys Home, Borivali organised a workshop on Personality Development for the children of the Orphanage on 14 October.   It was an enlighting session conducted by the recourse person Ms. Pratima Karmarkar. In all there were 20 participants for the programme. Stressing the importance of developing ones personality, Ms. Karmarkar said, “Personality development grooms an individual and helps him make a mark of his/her own, Personality development goes a long way in reducing stress and conflicts and helps you develop a positive attitude in life. It helps an individual to inculcate positive qualities like punctuality, flexible attitude, willingness to learn, friendly nature, eagerness to help others.” Dn. A SESSION ON SAAJA OR SUDHAR

An enlighting session on the topic Juvenile Delinquency was conducted by Dr. Chaya Shah, Adv. Aarti Shah and Ms. Sabina Gonsalves for the students of Bosco Boys Home and Technical Institue, Borivali on 12 th October 2018. In all 125 students participated in the programme. Dn. Romero D’Souza, the Vice Principal of the Institute, welcomed Dr. Chaya Shah and her team. Dn. D’Souza thanked them for their kind initiative and service offered to the institute. The session was organised as part of the many initiatives and awareness programmes conducted for the students to help them mature into good human beings.
