WIN OVER OUR VICES

Dussehra is a Hindu festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. Dussehra is the culmination of the Navaratri festival. It is a nine day celebration, a major season cultural event, which includes public celebration of classical and flolk dances of Hindu culture. The boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali also participated in this celebration which encourages the good to triumph over evil and also reminds us to win over our vices on 17th October. As Don Bosco always told his boys to be good, to do good, to see good and to practise goodness.
The boys rose to the sound of Garba music and had a Guajarati special breakfast of Dhokla for the morning. After returning from the school, the boys were welcomed with music and coconut water and Chinese bhel…specially prepared by Dn. Romero and his team to munch. This was
followed with an hour packed relays and tournaments of football and volleyball after which the boys were joined by the volunteers of the NGO: U & I for the open floor garba and dandiya raas.
Win over our vices” was the motto for the evening which was joyously celebrated with a sumptuous Gujarati thali and mouth-watering kheer. Along with the dance and music the volunteers also shared with the boys the importance of this festivity.
Suriya Murugan, one of the boys expressed, “This festival shares with us many such epic
stories of triumph of good over evil. It tells us to always be positive and hopeful even in deepest trails of evil for at last only truth triumphs. Thank you volunteers, for mking our day special and also for the beautiful moments and the message you gave us to enjoy today. I have learned that to win over my vices is the only way for me to become someone special in life and I know it can’t be done in a day but I am ready to undergo the struggle to achieve it.”
