MEDICAL SOCIAL AWARENESS HEALTH CAMP ON COMMON SKIN INFECTIONS
  



MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 28, 2019: 
On September 28, 2019, The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai R-Central ward, Borivali West, Mumbai in collaboration with Bosco Boys Home (BBH) organised a Medical social awareness health camp to administer to the boys and the staff of BBH, the awareness about the spread of the Common skin infections like fungus, scabies and leprosy, etc. The resource persons for the sessions were Dr. Vijaya Ahire, Dr. Priya Deokar both Asst. Medical Officer MCGM and Mrs. Nilima Dharmangaonkar a Skin Technician.
Father Corlis Gonsalves, Rector of the institute, welcomed the team of Doctors and the team. Father Gonsalves thanked them for their kind initiative and service offered to the institute. The camp was organised as a preventive measure to help boys build up their immune system, so as to remain healthy during the monsoons.
Dr. Priya Deoka addressed the gathering about the common skin infection diseases, the causes, symptoms and the remedies to be followed. She explained in detail about scabies, and fungal bacterial infections mostly commonly occurring in Monsoon. An interactive session was then held by Dr. Vijaya Ahire, in which the importance of hygiene and the basic cleanliness of one’s body and surrounding was explained. Few of the points discussed were the need to take regular bath, brushing teeth, cutting the nails, wearing clean and dry clothes were discussed. Mrs. Nilima Dharmangaonkar explained to the students about leprosy and the signs to detect it in the earlier stages.
The input session ended with a vote of thanks given by Anand Surukar “Thank you for sharing with us this valuable information and spending your precious time with us. We are grateful to you and whole heartily appreciate your kindness shown to us. From now on we will be cautious and aware and protect our self against these diseases.”
Dr. Vijaya Ahire concluding the session said, “We are thankful the management and the staff for giving us the opportunity to take the session for the boys. The boys were very disciplined and attentive throughout the session. We would love to take sessions for these boys every month and You can also get your sick boys to Primary Health Centre MHB for treatment.”

          The students from Mary Immaculate, Borivali came to Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) respectively on the 19 th and 20 th of December with celebrate and spread the spirit of Christmas to the boys of the orphanage. PARENTS MEETING

On the 5 th of November, 2018 the management and staff of Bosco Boys Home had organised a Parents meeting.   As the Diwali holiday came near the children of Bosco Boys Home were in happier mood as they were informed that they would be allowed to go home for few days for the Diwali celebration. Taking his opportunity, the staff decided to have a brief meeting of the children along with their parents informing them about the progress of their child and new projects been prepared for the betterment of the children. Fr. FAREWELL TO BR. SHELDON DIAS SDB AND WELCOME TO DN. ROMERO D’SOUZA SDB

Farewell to Sheldon & Welcome to Romero Our boys were enjoying the company of Br. Sheldon for the past 2 weeks. He really made our life in Bosco Boys Home interesting. We had a farewell party for Br. Sheldon Dias who has opted to work for the mission of Gambia in Africa. He studied in the Salesian school till the 8 th Standard after which he was selected and decided to be an Aspirant at Don Bosco Lonavala. He stayed there from 9 th to 12 th (HSC). He did his Pre novitiate in Goa and his Novitiate in Nashik where he expressed his feelings to the novice master of the missions; but was asked to finish his philosophy and then decide which he completed at Nashik. After which he was send to do his Practical Training in Gujarat, Narukot. The house catered to the tribals of the region, there he enjoyed working though at times life was hard and the boys appreciated his presence.
