A CHILDREN’S DAY PROGRAMME “CHALO ASSAMAN KHO CHU LE” ORGNAIZED BY BBH

             On the 24 th of November 2019, Bosco Boys Home, (BBH) Borivali had organized Children’s Day with the theme “ CHALO ASSAMAN KHO CHU LE ”, programme to appreciate the love, smile and happiness brought by the children specially the poor and abandoned to the society and to show to the little ones how much they are loved, cared and cherished by the society.    While welcoming the children, Fr. Corlis Gonsalves sdb the Rector and Director of BBH said, “Children are the future. Nurture them right so that they grow up to be able leaders and lead the world towards light. Children’s Day is a celebration of the innocence, positive energy and the future of our society. BOSCO BOYS CELEBRATING CHILDREN'S DAY WITH FAMOUS TV ACTRESS HELLY SHAH

On the occasion of Children’s day, the children of Bosco Boys Home (BBH), Borivali were joined in their celebration by famous T.V Actress Helly Shah along with the crew of India TV. The children sang songs, recited shayari, danced and played animated games with Helly. Helly Shah is an Indian television actress famous for her roles as Swara in Swaragini, Devanshi in Devanshi and Kaynaat in Sufiyana Pyaar Mera.   Helly Shah applauded the children for their enthusiasm, cheerfulness and energy. While speaking to children her advice was ‘to focus on their studies and to be obedient to their teachers and staff.’ Abbu Murugan, NIOS boys from BBH said, “Thankyou Helly Shah didi and India TV for visiting us. It was very great to see Helly didi, she so kind and loving. Learning Beyond…

From 30 th October to 3 rd November, 2019, few of the school going boys of Bosco Boys Home (BBH), Borivali participated in the camp organised by the NGO ‘Our Children’ at Yusuf Meheralli centre at Panvel. 9 boys from BBH accompanied by a staff attended the camp along with the other 10 NGO’s. The Theme for the camp was ‘Learning Beyond’ i.e. discovering one’s self and building of self-confidence. During the camp days, the boys were introduced to indwelling fire, slack lining, puppet show, toy making, mime art, mallakhamb and even taught magic. The camp also had hike to Karnala fort, visits to Oil mill, Soap factory and Pottery department. The camp was indeed an experience of learning, adventure and enjoyment.

Diwali Vacation at Walanda

            The boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali celebrated the Diwali vacation this year with an outing to the scenic beauty of Walvanda from the 30 th of October to the 3 rd of November. The trip was organised by the Salesians keeping in mind the positive change and the therapeutic healing brought by the peaceful and serene climate of Walvanda. It was a 4 day trip, in which the boys heartily participated and were dedicatedly accompanied by the Salesians and the staff. For all the days the boys were hosted by the house of Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha (BSVS) , Walvanda. The trip comprised of outings, activities, sessions, games and housie. The boys started their outing with an educational tour of the Walvanda gaon, were they learned about the simple and happy life of the villagers, which was added with visits to Umbarvaagan, Aageyi and Kadkad Dams, Jowhar’s Jaivilas Palace, Sunset point, Hanuman point, and Shirpamal. MEDICAL SOCIAL AWARENESS HEALTH CAMP ON COMMON SKIN INFECTIONS     MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 28, 2019:   On September 28, 2019, The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai R-Central ward, Borivali West, Mumbai in collaboration with Bosco Boys Home (BBH) organised a Medical social awareness health camp to administer to the boys and the staff of BBH, the awareness about the spread of the Common skin infections like fungus, scabies and leprosy, etc. The resource persons for the sessions were Dr. Vijaya Ahire, Dr. Priya Deokar both Asst. Medical Officer MCGM and Mrs. Nilima Dharmangaonkar a Skin Technician. Father Corlis Gonsalves, Rector of the institute, welcomed the team of Doctors and the team. Work for GOD and Work for Society It was a dream come true when we the parishioners of Nativity of Our Lord Church Kandivli East stepped out after our Sunday School class and visited Bosco Boys Home (BBH), Borivali on Sunday, 22 nd September 2019. We were a group of children from class 7 th , 8 th and 9 th not knowing what we were expected to see here. Of course our teachers, parents and a few from the youth group were with us. Cl. Jittin Mathew sdb took us on a tour of the technical skills training section explaining the courses offered by the 5 skills training departments (4 wheeler light vehicle mechanics, 2wheeler mechanics, Electrical, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and Hotel Management). The training courses are offered to the poorest of poor youth and school dropouts (age group 8years and above) to help them learn an employment generating skill and be able to alleviate the income level in their homes. We love you…Teachers

  “We love you…Teachers” was the theme that the students chose to celebrate here at Bosco Bosco Home & Technical Training Institute, Borivali - Mumbai.  The day started with welcoming and greeting the teachers with bouquets and cards from their students in their respective classes (Hotel Management, Technical, and NIOS). They began the meticulous preparation way back and diligently practised during the last few days. The program was rich with culture and tradition.  The universally accepted World Teacher’s Day is 5th October. In India, the Teacher’s Day is celebrated on 5th September as a ‘token of gratitude’ for all the teachers. In tune with this, the boys of Bosco Boys Home and the students of the Technical Institute, Borivali articulated their gratitude and appreciation for their affectionate teachers on this auspicious day by celebrating the Teacher’s Day. ‘All Rights to All Children’: YaR Day at Bosco Boys Home (BBH)

On 31st August 2019 YaR National Day, we celebrated at Bosco Boys Home (BBH), Borivali. In all 70 boys participated in this grand event. The management and staff planned and executed this day along with the volunteers from the Rotaract Club of Thakur College, Kandivali. The theme for the day was ‘All Rights to All Children.’ The program was inaugurated by Fr. Corlis Gonsalves sdb, Director of BBH, who expressed his concern over the rise in the incidents of violence against children and urged that this program is a good initiative in conveying the message of protection and propagation of the rights of children. For the session, the boys were divided into 2 groups: one group comprising of the Junior boys belonging to the age group of 10 to 14 years and the other comprised of the Senior boys been from 15 to 17 years. Bosco boys at Mumbai Half Marathon

On 25 th August, 2019 Mumbai Annual Half Marathon was planned by IDBI Federal Life Insurance at BKC. The Brand ambassador for this important occasion was Indian Legend and Cricketer ‘Master Blaster Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.’ 26 boys from Bosco Boys home accompanied by Romero Dsouza and Datta Gade participated in this Marathon. Bosco boys got opportunity to showcase their talents on this bigger platform and they were happy to be part of this sporting event. The marathon is an event where people from all walks of life participate including Bollywood celebrities, sports personalities, business tycoons and amateur athletes. The purpose of conducting this event was to promote running in the city and encourage a fit and healthy lifestyle.  Minimum age for this event for this event was 18 age. The event was categories were: Timed:   21 K, 10 K, 5 K and fun Run for new runners. This was a 4 th edition of Mumbai Half Marathon. Mumbai boasted the highest number of full marathon

AWARENESS PROGRAMME REGARDING THE USE OF FIRE EXTINGUISHER

The Management and the Staff of Bosco Boys Home and Technical Institute invited the government licence agency of Ronak Fire Industries, an ISO 9001: 2008 certified company to conduct an awareness programme for the students and boys regarding the use of fire extinguisher on 17 August, 2019 at 10am. Considering present scenario in Metro politician city of Mumbai, Fire policy has not been taken as a serious issue. The institute of Bosco Boys are more focused in empowering children and youth at vulnerable situation. In our academic study we have added a subject and practical session on safety and prevention of fire. Mr. Bruno D’Mello a resource person gave an orientation with a live demonstration and trained the students and boys regarding the use of fire extinguisher. The session was divided into six demo programmes each   for Mechanical section , Two wheeler, Four wheeler, Electrican, Air Condition Department, Hotel Management and Social sector children. *Dance India Dance at Bosco Boys' Home*

*Dance India Dance at Bosco Boys' Home* 8th August, 2019. Thursday.  A team from *Dance India Dance* (DID) of ZeeTV visited Bosco Boys' Home to interact with the kids. The programme was organised by the N.G.O U&I. The session started with the crew members and participants introducing themselves to the kids. Then had a dance act by the choreographer Mukund, whose performance was thoroughly enjoyed by all the kids.  The next performance was by the 10 year old DID partcipant Richika, whose energetic dance act was truly splendid.  After loud and enthusiastic cheers by the kids asking the two of them to perform together, they had a small performance and then introduced their team in DID, East Tigers. A DAY WELL SPENT

On the 21 st of July, 2019 the engineering students from Dwarkadas Jivanlal Sanghvi College of Engineering, Vile Parle visited Bosco Boys Home, (BBH), Borivali as part of their National Service Scheme (NSS) programme under their NSS Program Officers Prof. Rahul Taware and Prof. Vyenkatesh Bagal. In all 60 students came to BBH and took part actively in animating the 70 children of BBH. Keeping in mind the core values of spreading love and joy. The NSS unit of the college organises an orphanage visit every year. Rajas Joshi, one of the volunteer shared, “we feel that no child should be deprived of unconditional love. As part of this motto we decided to spend these quality time with the children of BBH and share with them some precious moments of smiles and laughter.” In animating the boys, the volunteers performed a skit highlighting the virtue of true friendship followed by a creative activity where the volunteers dressed up the children as superheroes. THANK YOU DEAR FR. PROVINCIAL GODFREY D’SOUZA SDB

“Thank you for being the reason I smile” was theme for the thanksgiving programme for Fr. Provincial Godfrey D’Souza sdb organized by the children of Bosco Boys Home, (BBH), Borivali on 20 th July, 2019. As the term of Fr. Godfrey as the Provincial of Mumbai Province is coming to its culmination, the Management, Staff and the children of BBH saw it fitting to give him a sweet and entertaining good-bye by thanking him for the special predilection he had for BBH.              The children welcomed Fr. Provincial with a Hindi welcome song “Swagatham Dear Father Swagatham”. The Technical boarders sang the song “Never Alone” by Lady Antebellum for Fr. Provincial by letting him know that they are always praying for him and his apostolate. The CWC boys presented a fusion dance to the tune of songs from the movies Bharat and Kalank. SPECIAL TREAT FOR THE PARENTS

MUMBAI, JULY 18, 2019:  The Hotel Management department of Bosco Boys Home and Technical Institute,(BBHTI) Borivli organised a  lunch for all their parents to show to them the skills they acquired through the training of the well qualified staff of BBHTI. In all 30 students from batch number 38, joined forces in preparing the special treat for their parents lunch under the guidance of cookery teacher, Sonali Cheulkar and food and beverages service lecturer, Deepak Lala and the bakery teacher Rowena Ferreira. The lunch was divided into two courses namely main course and the desert. This programme was one of a kind, suggested by Fr. Corlis Gonsalves sdb, the Director of the Institute. In this programme the students are encouraged to apply all the theoretical and practical knowledge which they acquired during the course, and without the help of the Instructors on their own prepare a lunch for their parents.
