Diwali Vacation at Walanda




          The boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali celebrated the Diwali vacation this year with an outing to the scenic beauty of Walvanda from the 30th of October to the 3rd of November. The trip was organised by the Salesians keeping in mind the positive change and the therapeutic healing brought by the peaceful and serene climate of Walvanda. It was a 4 day trip, in which the boys heartily participated and were dedicatedly accompanied by the Salesians and the staff.

For all the days the boys were hosted by the house of Bosco Samajik Vikas Sanstha (BSVS), Walvanda. The trip comprised of outings, activities, sessions, games and housie. The boys started their outing with an educational tour of the Walvanda gaon, were they learned about the simple and happy life of the villagers, which was added with visits to Umbarvaagan, Aageyi and Kadkad Dams, Jowhar’s Jaivilas Palace, Sunset point, Hanuman point, and Shirpamal. In between the boys also had animated tournaments such as Malaysian Volleyball, Kabaddi, Cricket, ring football. The outing also had some learning sessions for the boys like the Village tour of Walvanda where they were shown the life of serenity and simplicity lived by the villages. For the campfire the boys were divided into 4 teams namely Walvanda, Barcaleona, Bosco Boys and MariGold where the boys sang songs, acted out skits and creative advertisements, played spot games and action songs, danced and parted with gifts and snacks. Along with the enjoyment the boys also helped in cleaning the place of BSVS and thereby showing the house their appreciation of their kindness.

Fr. Anaclete D’Mello sdb the incharge of BSVS said, “The boys are very well behaved and I was happy to keep them here. I hope they had learned as well had fun. They are welcome to come again anytime they want.”

I AM THERE FOR YOU

Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi , is a Hindu festival centred around the tying of a thread or ornamental bracelet on the right wrist as a form of bond and ritual protection between brother and sister. The day signifies the mutual bond of love between siblings. On the 26 th of August, 2018, a group of volunteers visited Bosco Boys Home, Borivali on this sacred occasion of Rakshabandhan. Amid the sound of light instrumentals and a prayerful atmosphere, the volunters one by one began to apply tilak to the forehead of the boys and to tie the sacred thread of Rakhi to the wrist of the boys and did arati praying for their good health and long life.
