DREAM…DISCOVER…DAZZLE…

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”
This we can see through the NGO: ‘Bhumi’ one of India’s largest independent and youth volunteer non-profit organisations. Founded on August 15, 2006 by a small group of friends with a strong passion to change society and build a better India for tomorrow.  The organisation provides youngsters a platform to serve the society and bridges the gap between the educated and the uneducated by initiating a number of educational activities especially for the underprivileged children as to improve the self-confidence of children and to contribute to their holistic development through promotion of extra-curricular activities.
As part of their annual national talent festival ‘Nakshatra;’ Bhumi organised various competition in arts for children from 12 different orphanages around Mumbai this year on 7th October. Bosco Boys Home, Borivali was also invited to be part of this festive Oratory.  Over 500 children participated this year.
This year the talent festival had an array of competitive activities to ensure that children of all age groups from children’s homes participated and gain immensely from competing against their peers. The different competitions in arts included flower arrangement, pot painting, clay modelling, elocution, dance, song, and storytelling, speak your mind, poster making and skits which helped the children to bring forth their talent to its telos (maximum purpose). The event was also peppered with entertainment, games and workshops to keep the children busy even while they were not competing.

Tejaswini Pillai, one of the Bhumi who accompanied the Bosco Boys for the event shared, “To help build a more influential, equal and socially conscious society. We drive social change by fostering an environment where young adults and children learn, lead and thrive. Through ‘Nakshatra’,  We aim to provide a platform for the children to ‘Dream’, exhibit their talents, get competitive exposure, ‘Discover’ their potential, ‘Dazzle’ in an atmosphere of healthy competition and enrich themselves with much needed perspective about their inherent potentials. I am happy that the boys of Bosco Boys Home were able to do this and as part of Bhumi, I feel very happy and proud to see the joy and happiness it brought in the faces of these boys. I thank the management of Bosco Boys Home for accepting our invitation.
Abbu Munugum, a boy from Bosco Boys who won the prize in spell- bee competition said, “Thank you Bhumi for this wonderful event where I was able to make so many new friends. I enjoyed myself and would definitely come again next time and bring with me some more friends.”

  1. It was such a lovely experience to meet the children from Bosco Boys Home at Nakshatra Mumbai. The passion they exhibited in various events made us believe more in what we already believed, 'Not all stars are found in the sky'. Thank you to all the children and the amazing management team at Bosco Boys Home. Special thanks to Datta Gade sir for all his efforts.

AD MAJOREM DEI GLORIAM

“Praise the Lord for all His wonders to me!” captures Fr. Aloysius inner sentiments as he celebrated his 60th year of the First Religious Profession on the 24th of May, 2020. He renewed his religious vows to live the Evangelical Counsels and to labor for the salvation of souls as he follows the footsteps of Jesus, our Good Shepherd, and in the spirit of our father and founder St John Bosco. Fr. Corlis Gonsalves sdb, the Rector of BBH while celebrating this moment of grace and blessing thanked the Almighty for the gift of Fr. Aloysius Furtado (Alu, as he is fondly known among his near and dear ones) to the Salesian Congregation. He thanked Fr. Alu for the inspiration and motivation he is to the younger generation and congratulated him for his faithfulness and fidelity to God for these fruitful years. Especially, for his service among the young through the gift of music and choir – the saying of St Augustine goes well with the gift of Fr. Alu being an instrument to God “singing is
