Every year 26 th of November is being observed as National Milk Day (NMD) to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of the White Revolution in India, Dr.Verghese Kurien. To commemorate this beautiful moment the Management and the staff of Bosco Boys Home decided to take the boys to the Amul’s Virar Dairy for an educational cum exposure visit on 24 th November, 2018. Amul Dairy has setup a state of art dairy near Virar. It covers 11 acres of lush green land surrounded by the mountains and jungles of Virar. The Dairy is set up at a total cost of Rs. 180 crore, processing an installed capacity of 1 million litres milk per day with a provision to expand upto 2 million litres in the near future. The main work carried by this plant is to serve the consumers of Mumbai City and its suburbs with fresh milk and milk products. The NGO Committed Communities Development Trust (CCDT) which runs the Childline program in Mumbai from Dahisar to Andheri as part of their “Child Rights Week” celebration participated with the children of Bosco Boys Home on 22 th of November, 2018 in the programme called “Childline se Dosti.” Childline (dial 1098), is a 24 hour toll free national emergency phone outreach service committed to responding to children in need of care and protection. Childline reaches out to any child who has been deprived of his or her right to a safe childhood. As part of the Children Day festivity, the group kept “Child Rights Week” from 14 th to the 21 th of November with an aim to meet different stake holders, allied systems and civilians and making them aware about Childline services and sensitize them towards child protection issues. The boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali celebrated the Diwali vacation this year with an outing to the hill station of Lonavala from the 12 th to the 20 th of November. The trip was organised by the Salesians keeping in mind the positive change and the therapeutic healing brought by the peaceful and hygienic climate of Lonavala. It was a 9 day trip, in which the boys heartily participated and were dedicatedly accompanied by the staff. For all the days the boys were hosted by the house of Maria Ashiana, Lonavala. The trip comprised of outings, activities, sessions, games and housie. The boys started their outing with an educational tour of Don Bosco School, Lonavala, which was added with visits to Tungarli Dam, Valvan Dam and Garden where  one of the highlights was to see the conservation technique of the mighty Mahseer, a breed of fish breeding only in Lonavala. On the 5 th of November, 2018 the management and staff of Bosco Boys Home had organised a Parents meeting.   As the Diwali holiday came near the children of Bosco Boys Home were in happier mood as they were informed that they would be allowed to go home for few days for the Diwali celebration. Taking his opportunity, the staff decided to have a brief meeting of the children along with their parents informing them about the progress of their child and new projects been prepared for the betterment of the children. An awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) was conducted by Mrs. Tejashri Shinde and Mr. Kshir Sagar, the Police Sub Inspectors (PSI) of MHB Colony, Police Station, Borivali West for the children and staff of Bosco Boys Home, Borivali on 03 th November 2018 from 10.00 am to 11.30 am which was organised by Deacon. “Life is a beautiful journey and let’s together, Fly higher!” Keeping this thought in mind, around 25 volunteers of the NGO Fly Higher India paid a visit to the Bosco Boys Home in Borivali on October 28 from 10.30 am to 1.00 pm, to spread smiles to the ones who really deserved it. The NGO Fly Higher India (FHI) is an initiative of Apmvm Foundation, a Not-for-profit organisation. Started in end of 2017, the initiative soon spread to various cities and impacted lives of thousands of children and involved hundreds of volunteers.  Its aim is   to  inculcate life skills, instil values, and imbibe confidence among the underprivileged children and youth across India. On 27 th October 2018, the NGO Samajik Vikas Kendra from Malad (East) led by the head of the Institute Mr. Sachin Mahore visited Bosco Boys Home, Borivali as part of their educational and exposure visit from 11 am to 2pm. The other staffs present were Mr. Sachin Mahore, Mrs. Kavita Rana, Mrs. Archana Rathod, Mrs. Trupti Tayde, Mrs. Sarla Nair, Mrs. Aarti Gayor the Social Development outreach worker, and the Superintendent Mrs. Sangita Karande.
