PLAYING WITH COLORS.



Keeping in mind that creative activities like painting help in the development of the brain and it boosts creativity and makes children more imaginative. the staff and management of Bosco Boys Home, Borivali along with the help of volunteers from NGO: U&I organized a drawing competition for the 55 boys of the orphanage on 12th September 2018.

Painting has many benefits, and it is both constructive and enjoyable. One of the reason for this competition was that children nowadays spend a lot of time watching TV. While creative activities like painting can direct their energy into something constructive, they can also act as a therapy, and help children relax and de-stress. And since art does not have any rules and regulations, it helps the children to cherish the joy of making something which is uniquely theirs.
 The theme for the drawing competition was Christmas and New Year. The children were asked to be at their at creative best and the volunteers helped them to do the best. The themes were selected keeping in mind the positivity which comes through these two occasions and fun and enjoyment which covers these two periods of time. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the competition, there were splash paints on the papers and the children messed around with their hands full of colours and paint in zigzag strokes on paper.
One of volunteer Prinyaka Shah said, “The more you encourage your little ones to explore their creativity, the more pleasantly surprised you will be. Just leave a child with a blank sheet of paper and some colours –you will get to witness your little Da Vinci come alive. The creative talent in children is infinite and amazing, so much so that even the entire universe may seem like a small canvas to them.”

The winner of the drawing competition, Aryan Yadav said, “The more I play with colours on paper, the more I can experience the beauty of art and creativity. Expressing themselves through painting allows me to take part in an activity that is fun and fulfilling. It encourages me to look at situations with an open & creative mind. I apply the lessons learned through painting to various situations in my life. My critical reasoning skills also has developed better as I learn, on my own, to make decisions on what works and what doesn’t.”

CARING AND SHARING WITH LOVE

          The students from Mary Immaculate, Borivali came to Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) respectively on the 19 th and 20 th of December with celebrate and spread the spirit of Christmas to the boys of the orphanage. The trip was organised by the Management and staff of Mary Immaculate Primary and High School section. It was divided into two batches on the 19 th the Primary section and on the next day the Secondary section. The students were accompanied by Sr. Payal, MSA and the other staffs from the school. The students started with an introduction by playing an icebreaker game wherein they got to know the names of the boys. Then the programme started with the pictorial description, carol singing and a skit beautifully enacting the Nativity of the Lord explaining to the boys about the real meaning of Christmas. PARENTS MEETING

On the 5 th of November, 2018 the management and staff of Bosco Boys Home had organised a Parents meeting.   As the Diwali holiday came near the children of Bosco Boys Home were in happier mood as they were informed that they would be allowed to go home for few days for the Diwali celebration. Taking his opportunity, the staff decided to have a brief meeting of the children along with their parents informing them about the progress of their child and new projects been prepared for the betterment of the children.
