CELEBRATING DON BOSCO WITH LOVE

The boys of Bosco Boys’ Home (BBH) in Borivali celebrated Don Bosco’s birthday with the love enshrined in the spirit of Don Bosco himself. Don Bosco was a Father, Teacher and Friend to the poor and abandoned boys and we here at BBH began the day with the tune of “All hail to Don Bosco”, with a solemn celebration of the Holy Eucharist after that breakfast and a prayer service for the technical institute.

In the afternoon we had the Hotel Management Batch preparing four variety of cakes (chocolate, tuti-fruti, pineapple and banana flavours) to distribute to all the students and staff to show their love and appreciation to the institute as well as to all the Salesians working in the house who represent Don Bosco to them by their presence of joy and optimism, their availability, their example of hard work and temperance and above all their life of prayer.

Then the boys got ready to go for their school. When they returned the boys were welcomed with music and masala tea…chai along with deep fried nallies to munch. “Run, Jump, Play but do not sin” was the motto for the evening which was joyously celebrated with a sumptuous supper and mouth-watering ice-cream. This was followed with an hour packed relays and tournaments after which we had the floor open for the children to dance to the music.

We concluded with Father Corlis the Rector of the house giving them a good night talk of how Don Bosco lived his life only for the poor and abandoned children and made them good and honest human beings.

“Praise the Lord for all His wonders to me!” captures Fr. Aloysius inner sentiments as he celebrated his 60th year of the First Religious Profession on the 24th of May, 2020. He renewed his religious vows to live the Evangelical Counsels and to labor for the salvation of souls as he follows the footsteps of Jesus, our Good Shepherd, and in the spirit of our father and founder St John Bosco. Fr. Corlis Gonsalves sdb, the Rector of BBH while celebrating this moment of grace and blessing thanked the Almighty for the gift of Fr. Aloysius Furtado (Alu, as he is fondly known among his near and dear ones) to the Salesian Congregation. He thanked Fr. Alu for the inspiration and motivation he is to the younger generation and congratulated him for his faithfulness and fidelity to God for these fruitful years. Especially, for his service among the young through the gift of music and choir – the saying of St Augustine goes well with the gift of Fr. Alu being an instrument to God “singing is...
