SARHAD

The boys of Bosco Boys' Home in Borivli celebrated Independence Day on August 15, by reflecting on the message of a play entitled 'Sarhad',written and directed by Nizamuddin Shah.

The day began with the singing of 'Sare Jahan se Accha Hindustan Hamara'. Soon after, the boys witnessed the flag-hoisting ceremony. The Chief Guest, Doctor Gautam Das, a medical officer with the BMC, stressed on the importance of peaceful co-existence.

The boys were then led through a bhajan service, themed on 'peace in the world'. The boys also prayed for the deceased souls of the martyrs and soldiers who ceaselessly protect India's freedom each day.

In the evening, staff accompanied the boys to see the play 'Sarhad', which means border. The play was performed by Jannat Media Production. The play touched upon the sensitive issue of religion. It nailed home the message that where humanity, love and peace abides, there is no place for hatred.
The play cast Richardson, a boy from the Home. "It was a learning experience for me. I mostly fight with others on petty issues. Now I will not, and hope others also must have learned," Richardson, said.

Shah, a veteran in Indian cinema, added, "The main religion is humanity and all comes after that. We all are human beings made in the image of the Divine. Respecting man is respecting God." Rector, Father Corlis Gonsalves thanked Jannat Media Production and invited them to train more boys with acting skills.
